Time to screen: cervical screening

If you have a cervix, you should get a screening every 3 years. If you’ve missed your appointment, please get screened as soon as you can.

Cervical screening gives the best chance to find cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer. Early detection and treatment has a very high success rate. If you are concerned or have any symptoms such as unusual bleeding, you should discuss this with your health care provider.

Cervical cancer is one of the easiest cancers to prevent – as long as we detect the cell changes that cause it, early. And guess what? New Zealand has one of the best cervical screening programmes in the world to help you.
