Restricted fire season for North Marlborough
North Marlborough is moving to a restricted fire season 8.00am Thursday 8 April. This is all parts of Marlborough north of the Wairau River (excluding Rarangi and the Diversion) and includes Picton, Havelock and Department of Conservation land in the area.

New Te Kīwai Fund: A partnership with Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu
Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa is pleased to announce its partnership with Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu to provide a new $850,000 Government fund called Te Kīwai. The fund will provide direct financial support for tamariki and rangatahi Māori throughout the South Island who are experiencing financial hardship and missing out on physical activity opportunities.

Wither Hills Farm Park remains closed for now
While cooler mornings are making themselves felt and the heat of summer has begun to subside, more rain is still needed for the parched Wither Hills. Robin Dunn, Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Officer, said a significant amount of rain was still required to reduce the fire indices to enable the reopening of the Farm Park.
