Update 11:55 AM MONDAY 26 JULY 2021: The team at Marlborough’s Emergency Management Operations Centre is continuing to keep an eye on the weather situation which is expected to pass through the region quickly today. The Emergency Management Operations Centre is fully operational and the team is continuing to liaise with MetService and NIWA for the latest weather information.

Update 2:51 PM SUNDAY 25 JULY 2021: The team at Marlborough’s Emergency Operations Centre is keeping an eye on a weather system expected to bring rain to Rai Valley, the Awatere Valley and the Marlborough Sounds from the early hours of Monday morning until early evening. The MetService advises that the period of rain, with some heavy falls possible, is likely to total 40 to 70mm with peak rates of 5 to 10mm/h.

Update 2:41 PM SATURDAY 24 JULY 2021: Recovery efforts are continuing this weekend with roading and river stop bank repairs being carried out today. Marlborough Emergency Management Incident Controller Dean Heiford said while we have scaled back our response and recovery just a little this weekend to give our teams a brief rest this will be scaled back up again on Monday,” he said.

We are currently offering vaccination to people in Groups 1, 2 and 3. We have completed vaccination clinics for all rest homes in Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough and have started to vaccinate people in their homes if they are not able to leave their house easily.

Update 4:31 PM WEDNESDAY 21 JULY 2021: The team at Marlborough’s Emergency Operations Centre is keeping an eye on a small, fast moving weather system expected to bring rain to Marlborough this evening. The MetService advises that rainfall on the ranges is likely to total 20 to 40mm over a six hour period but is unlikely to result in any significant flooding in the Wairau River.
